As part of the Church of the Nazarene, Marshfield Church of the Nazarene participates in and supports Nazarene Missions International which is the organizational representative of missions for the Church of the Nazarene on the regional, district, and local levels. The objectives of NMI are to encourage people to pray for all efforts of world evangelization, to inform people of the world’s needs and what the church is doing to meet those needs, to challenge children and youth to learn about and participate in the mission of the church and to raise funds for mission outreach.
MCON not only supports NMI and its various mission projects, we also take on specific mission projects both nationally and internationally. We have sponsored several mission projects including work and witness trips to Belize and taking the Jesus Film and associated equipment to Bahir Dar, Ethiopia where it has been shown all over the region.
In 2015, MCON worked with Nazarene Compassionate Ministries to help build a water well in Barhir Dar. The well was completed in May 2015 and now brings water to the area. The mission leader for the area stated that “Having water available for the people and livestock helps bring peace to the area.” The well is 80 feet deep and is projected it will provide sufficient water to the area for 70 years.
As another ongoing mission focus, each year during our Vacation Bible School, the boys and girls give money to the Kids Reaching Kids offering. During the past several years, we have given close to $10,000 or more! This years VBS mission offering project will be supporting In His Name, a place for children with special Needs.
